DUNN — Willa Dean “Teenie” Glover Stewart, age 89, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 at Dayspring of Wallace.
Teenie was born on Aug. 4, 1932, in Johnston County, the daughter of the late James Cary Glover and Evelyn Messer Glover and was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Stewart. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine Stewart and Linda Burnette; and brothers, Charles, Willie, Jackie, Tony Earl and Jerry Glover.
Teenie was the oldest of 12 siblings and was a very small infant earning the nickname “Teenie” that stuck with her all of her life. She was a good mother and was a mother to all of her 11 siblings, as well as her own children and others.
She was an Avon representative for many years and enjoyed keeping children in her home. Teenie never left home that she was not “dressed to nines” hair fixed, makeup on, and wearing high heels. She believed in looking your best everyday.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. at Devotional Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Johnson officiating.
She is survived by a son, Kenny Stewart and wife Alma of Dunn; daughter, Dale Matthews of Clayton; grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Stewart and wife Irene of Benson, Steven Tyler Matthews of Raleigh, and Morgan Brooke Matthews of Wilmington; great-grandchildren, Jaelyn Irene Stewart and Greyden James Stewart; many nieces and nephews; sisters, Brenda McDonald of Lillington, and Wanda Gail Bradshaw and husband Donnie of Autryville; and brothers, Lee Glover of Benson, and Cary Cecil Glover and wife Debbie of Spring Lake.
There will be a visitation Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, from 11 a.m. to noon at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn.
Due to COVID, masks are required in the funeral home.
