A Mount Olive man is accused of fleeing from deputies in a high-speed chase Sunday.
Deputies say they saw 19-year-old Karl Stephen Ferrera driving and knew he had 10 outstanding warrants for his arrest, but attempts to pull him over sparked a chase. Speeds topped 100 mph in a 55 mph zone during the chase, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
“The suspect eventually came to a stop and was taken into custody without incident,” stated a release from the Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to his prior warrants, Ferrera is charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger, speeding 100 mph in a 55 mph zone, driving with a revoked license and displaying a fictitious tag.
Deputies booked him into the Wayne County Detention Center under a $21,500 secured bond.
