UMO favored to win men's, women's indoor track titles


GREENVILLE, S.C. – A unanimous selection.

University of Mount Olive received a perfect 100 points and is selected to claim an unprecedented sixth consecutive Conference Carolinas men’s indoor track and field championship this winter.

The Trojans earned 10 of 11 first-place votes. Teams are not allowed to vote for themselves in the coaches’ preseason poll.

Emmanuel received the other first-place vote and is predicted to share runner-up honors with league newcomer UNC Pembroke. North Greenville and Lees-McRae completed the top five.

On the women’s side, UMO has been tabbed to pick up its eighth conference title after winning seven straight from 2014-2020. The Trojans received four first-place votes and edged UNCP 93-86 in total points.

UNCP garnered six first-place nods.

Southern Wesleyan and in-state rival North Greenville were picked third and fourth, respectively. Emmanuel is fifth.
