SEVEN SPRINGS — Postseason accolades have arrived for three Spring Creek boys’ soccer standouts.
Josue Sanchez Inestroza, Edgar Librado Victoriano Apolonio and Jonah Velasquez-Perez have been named to the 2020-21 North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association (NCSCA) Class 2A All-Region 6 team.
The trio helped lead the Gators to a 4-6-0 record during a COVID-shortened season. Apolonio and Inestroza each earned all-East Central 2A Conference honors.
“Josue has been an absolute pleasure to coach his entire high school career,” said SC head coach Miguel Torres. “He has always been a top scorer for us and we are definitely going to miss his goals this upcoming season. He is a humble player that comes to practice, works hard and wants to be the best.”
Inestroza punched in 14 goals this season.
Apolonio, according to Torres, is like the Energizer bunny. The junior centerback never stops working the entire time he’s on the pitch.
“Edgar can play any position, just an awesome student-athlete that you love to coach,” Torres said. “He is the only player I can rely on to do what I ask him to do.”
Junior center midfielder Velasquez-Perez collected four goals and two assists this season.
“A very talented player, he sticks out in games for his top technical abilities and willing to be brave on one versus one [opportunities],” Torres said. “He is a player that also plays multiple positions and can help create goals as well as score them.”
A total of 17 East Central players made the 24-man region list.
