Repair work continues at town hall

Three contractors are expected to submit bids on repairing portions of town hall.

Town Manager Jammie Royall said cleanup work continues on the facility. Sandblasting of the ceiling on impacted offices has started.

The wall separating Royall’s office from the town clerk’s office must be torn out and rebuilt.

A Labor Day fire left an estimated $100,000 in damage to the building and contents of eight offices. A faulty electrical curcuit in the town clerk’s office was the source of the fire.

Offices of the town mayor, human resources officer, recreation department and building inspections sustained smoke and water damage.

Royall said it will take approximately six months before the offices can be reopened.
