The reorganization of the town’s public works department is going well, according to Town Manager Jammie Royall.
“I once sat in that seat for about 10 years,” Royall said. “It was really too much on one person. There is a lot of responsibility and a lot of pressure and stress to deal with.”
Royall felt the department needed more help and appointed two leaders — Mitchell Davis and Henry Vann — to run it smoothly and efficiently. Davis oversees public works and trash collection. Vann supervises collections and distribution.
His plan worked.
“I have had the cooperation of everyone. Every single person there does their job and doesn’t complain and the work gets done,” Royall said.
He anticipates an administration change, but offered no additional details.
“I am still working on it, so it would be best not to discuss it at this time,” he said.
