PREP ROUNDUP: Saints compete in cross country, girls' tennis

SMITHFIELD - Southern Wayne’s Dylan Tyndall finished 17th overall in a season-opening, Quad County 3A Conference cross country meet contested Wednesday afternoon.

Tyndall ran the 5k course in 23 minutes, 23 seconds.

Donshae Boseman finished 22nd in 24:18. Teammates Jabari Pearsall (28th, 25:33), Connor Whiting (37th, 28:27), Jeremy Whitley (40th, 29:47) and Matthew Blizzard (43rd, 30:36) also ran.

The Saints finished fourth as a team.

On the girls’ side, Elaina Lane ended up 18th in 29:59.

Lehyssa St. Julien took 25th in 31:29. Nerchka Maxi (29th, 32:43), Mckenzie Strickland (31st, 33:36), Kyren Strong (33rd, 35:02), Jamaya Leach (38th, 39:39) and Sophia Marshall (43rd, 49:27) also competed.

SW placed seventh as a team.

Girls’ tennis

DUDLEY - Annual powerhouse Wilson Fike cruised to a 7-0 victory over Quad County 3A Conference foe Southern Wayne on Wednesday afternoon.

The Saints (1-4 overall, 1-4 QCC) travel to county rival Charles B. Aycock on Monday. First serve is 3:30 p.m.
