Prep football: Gators, Rebels endure road shutouts

Area teams endured shutout losses during their latest battles on the gridiron last week.

Carolina 1A co-leader and unbeaten Rosewood dealt North Duplin a 47-0 defeat at the Eagles’ Nest.

East Duplin defeated independent Spring Creek, 63-0.

“There are no positive stats to post,” said Spring Creek head coach Daniel Robinson.

Robert Strickland and Dylan Davidson logged six tackles apiece for the Gators, who dropped to 2-3 overall this season.

They conclude regular-season play Friday at county rival Goldsboro.

Rosewood shut down the Rebels’ rushing attack. Freshman DuJuan Armwood rushed for zero yards on 21 carries, while backfield mate Eli Morrisey collected 105 yards on 21 totes.

Quarterback Gage Outlaw completed a season-high four passes for 48 yards. Kyle Holland hauled in three receptions for 45 yards, while Armwood snagged a 3-yard pass.

North Duplin had 161 yards of total offense.

The Rebels (3-3 overall, 2-2 Carolina) look to snap their two-game skid Thursday at Hobbton.
