Southern Wayne graduate Will Pennington, shown here in a recent game, was named to the 2022 NC Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A All-State June 14. Pennington helped lead the Saints to 13 victories and their first postseason appearance since 2014. The right-hander compiled a 5-5 record and 1.71 earned run average (ERA) on the mound in 12 appearances. He collected 78 strikeouts in 57-plus innings and held opposing teams to a .198 batting average. Pennington will play next season at the University of Mount Olive.
