KENANSVILLE — The NC Department of Transportation closed a section of N.C. Highway 50 in both directions to replace failing pipelines.
Officials closed the highway between the N.C. Highway 24 Bypass and N.C. Highway 41 in Chinquapin on July 19. Work is expected to last through the end of July.
Crews will replace nine failing pipelines in multiple locations prior to resurfacing the highway.
Drivers will be detoured onto either the N.C. 24 Bypass, N.C. Highway 24 or N.C. 41. Motorists are reminded to allow extra time to navigate detours and slow down for maintenance crews in the area.
The section should reopen July 31.
