Mount Olive native Geoffrey Merritt is the town’s new finance director.
Merritt took over the position June 7. He replaced Bonnie Bray, who served on a part-time basis after the retirement of Kay Anderson in February.
He worked with Goldsboro accounting firm CPA Sherif Y. Iskander for 21 years.
A 1993 graduate of Southern Wayne, Merritt received a BS in accounting from Appalachian State University in 1997.
Merritt is married to the former Jennifer Ricks of Mount Olive. They have two children — 15-year-old Hunter, who attends Southern Wayne and 10-year-old Anna, who goes to Mount Olive Middle. The family attends Northeast Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Merritt is the son of Beverly Cobb Clifton, who resides in Mount Olive.
