Mask requirement lifted for fully-vaccinated town employees

Fully-vaccinated town of Mount Olive employees are no longer required to wear masks.
But town officials say residents must continue to wear a face covering whenever they visit any town facility.
Town Manager Jammie Royall says the new mandate will be reviewed each week.
“We are aware that the numbers are on the decline, but we still plan to play it safe right now and keep the mask mandate in place for people using town facilities,” Royall said. “I know that wearing the mask is a pain for some people, but right now for those employees we have who have not been fully vaccinated, they are going to have to keep wearing it.”
The town’s labor force has now gone five straight weeks without any employee testing positive for the virus.
Goshen Medical has partnered with the town to provide a drive-thru testing facility for employees.
Royall feels good about the way town employees have complied with all the safety measures that have been in place since day one.
“They did what they had to do and never complained about it,” he said.
