A local contractor is willing to tackle the town’s sidewalk project.
Henry Fulghum, operator of Concrete Specialites, is working on the expense figures, according to Town Manager Jammie Royall.
“Once we get the numbers and if they are in line with what we want, the work can start immediately,” said Royall. “I’m hoping he can get started within the next week or so.”
Lack of interest in the multi-phase job frustrated Royall, who was prepared to handle it with “in-house” personnel from the town’s public works department.
Funded by state Powell Aid monies, the sidewalk project involves construction on South Church, Franklin, Nelson, Hillsboro and South Center streets.
