LaGrange man charged in mutilation death

A LaGrange man is facing murder charges after police located a car linked to a Goldsboro homicide investigation in a Mount Olive neighborhood.

Goldsboro officers asked Mount Olive police to help them recover a car found on McDonald Drive May 28. Goldsboro police arrested a man who inquired about the car at their department later that day.

The man is identified as 29-year-old Willie Lee Langston Jr. of LaGrange. Langston is charged with murder in the case of an unidentified woman, whose mutilated remains were found in the driveway of a Goldsboro home on May 24.

Assistant Mount Olive Police Chief John Duncan said he has no information as to why the suspect’s vehicle was found on McDonald Drive or if the suspect knew anyone there.

“All I can say is we got a call to provide security while the tow truck hauled it away,” Duncan said.

The mutilated body was discovered in the early morning when a resident complained of having trouble getting into his driveway.

A day later, the Goldsboro Police Department released a photo of a car officers say could have been involved in the murder. A search for the vehicle led police to Mount Olive.

Langston is being held without bond at the Wayne County Jail.

He faces a probable cause hearing in Wayne District Court later this month.

The SBI is assisting in the investigation, which officials say is ongoing and could result in other arrests.
