Sewer-line replacement in the Holloman Heights subdivision is near completion.
Work began last week and should be finished at any time.
The area has endured inflow and infiltration problems for several years, particularly during heavy rainfalls. In-house labor from the town’s public works department installed 500 feet of new line and a new manhole.
“I am beginning to see some good results of the work we are doing on an almost daily basis,” said Town Manager Jammie Royall. “The last spill we had was a big one, but had all this influx and infiltration work not been done, it would have been much worse.”
The last spill occurred over a 9-hour period. Royall said it could have lasted two days.
