Goldsboro street to be renamed

On Monday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 pm, at the corner of Harris and Poplar Street Extension in Goldsboro, the unveiling of the street name change from Poplar Street Extension to Dr. H. E. McNair, Sr. Street will take place.

The city of Goldsboro has approved and declared that Poplar Street Extension will officially be renamed in honor of the late, great Dr. Howard E McNair, Sr.

Dr. McNair was the Senior Pastor of the New Stoney Hill United Holy Church, 1003 Poplar Street, Goldsboro.  In addition to the city of Goldsboro, Dr. McNair played a profound role in the greater Wayne County community. He has been a pastor and an awesome leader in this community for nearly 60 years.

Everyone knew him from the church to the barbershop to the supermarket. The church, the city and the greater Wayne County community has found it befitting to honor Dr. McNair in such an esteemed manner - naming the street after him where he pastored for so many fruitful years.

Apostle Aaron B. McNair, Sr., senior pastor of Mt. Moriah Community Church, Farmville, will be officiating.
