County church assists residents

Deeper Life Church Ministries recently held a “Load On Us” and a “Barber On Us” outreach activities that extended into southern Wayne County.

DLCM served 240 people between the two events.

“[The] ministry is not confined to the church building,” said Senior Pastor Aaron McNair II. “We must reach people where they are physically and spiritually.”

The Load On Us was a free clothing wash initiative that took place at six different locations within the county.

The Barber On Us offered patrons a haircut and shave, free of charge.

“Since we have launched our ‘Impact the City’ initiatives last year, some issues have gotten worse instead of better,” said McNair. “The pandemic of COVID-19 is quickly approaching one year. This means people are still sick, people are still out of work and people are still hungry.

“As a part of our vision to ‘Impact the City’ of Goldsboro, we [also] want to lighten the load and cover the laundry washing for our hurting members, neighbors and friends.”

In February, DLCM plans to serve either breakfast or lunch to teachers at three local schools. In March, DLCM will conduct a “Meal On Us” with the city council.
