Dellinger Company officials report the wastewater treatment plant project is about 20% complete.
The contractor presented the information in a recent monthly progress report. The multi-million dollar project is targeted for completion in January 2023.
“We have a long way to go, but there is plenty of time to get there,” said Jammie Royall, town manager.
The two-phase project involves removal of a 300-acre tree farm and updating or improving some interior portions of the plant.
The 300-acre tree farm is spread across 16 fields and requires the removal of approximately 90,000 sycamore trees. There are 26 miles of underground drip lines.
Bermuda grass will be planted once the trees are removed.
Royall said interior work on the plant should begin at any time.
