Inclement weather from two winter storms have delayed work at Maplewood and Carver cemeteries.
Jammie Royall, town manager, said the contractor plans to remove 19 trees from the Myrtle Grove area of Maplewood. He has some trees to remove from Carver, too.
Evergreen trees at both facilities will not be touched.
Royall said work should have started two weeks ago, but was delayed by the first winter storm to hit the area.
The cemetery work is part of the town’s beautification plan spearheaded by town Commissioners Steve Wiggins and Harlie Carmichael. They’ve spent a couple of Saturday mornings improving the look of both cemeteries with the assistance of local volunteers.
