Beverly Brock Hatch, resident of the Beautancus area near Mount Olive, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, in its late evening hours. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday two days before.

Daughter of the late David John Brock Jr. and Lena Dearie Simmons Brock, she had been married to Edwy Grattan “E.G.” Hatch Jr. for 40 years until his death in 1989. She retired from Southern Bank and Trust Company in Mount Olive after a long tenure of service. She was a life-long member of Bear Marsh Missionary Baptist Church where she remained an active and faithful servant until her death. Her special interest included a love of music, working in her yard, caring for and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Hatch is survived by her children and their spouses, Terrie H. and Rod Buckner of Rocky Mount, Edwy G. “Eddie” Hatch III and Patty of Topsail Beach, and Sheila H. Lassiter of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Baeden Buckner, Breck B. Hayes and husband, Vaun, Evan Hatch and wife, Haley, Chandler Hatch, Madison Hatch, and Joey Lassiter and wife, Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Cole Hayes, Ethan Hayes, Dylan Buckner, James Hatch, and Evie Lassiter; a sister, Jean B. Long of Maryland; a special cousin, Kay D. Grady of Topsail Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ken Lassiter; and a sister, DeLauris B. James.

A service of remembrance for the life of Mrs. Hatch will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Bear Marsh Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Paul Rose, followed by visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be presented to the church at 1649 Beautancus Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365, or to the charity of one’s choosing.
