Barnhill to handle street job

Work on Ridgecrest Drive and South Center Street is expected to start this week.

Barnhill Company of Goldsboro will resurface a portion of Ridgecrest and a three-block stretch of South Center Street, which involves the east side of the street from Hillsboro south to Kelly Street.

The paving work is funded through the town’s Powell Aid allotment and will cost approximately $100,000, according to Town Manager Jammie Royall. The town receives two annual payments of $60,000 for street improvement work.

Royall said half of the work was done two years ago.

The current project is the second half.
