Southern Wayne seniors Kristasiah Jones and Ja’Maya Leach each received a $2,000 scholarship from Alkebulan Community Reform to use toward their respective college educations.
A volunteer with her little brother’s T-ball team, Jones plans to attend Winston-Salem State University and major in nursing.
Leach signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball at Brunswick Community College. She intends to major in either sports management or physical therapy.
ACR co-founder Michael Olliver said both students will receive care and essential packages while they’re in college.
