North Duplin High School’s baseball team delivered a commanding performance, shutting out Union High School with a decisive 21–0 victory. The game showcased North Duplin’s offensive prowess and defensive solidity, culminating in a mercy-rule conclusion after four innings.

North Duplin set the tone early. After two quick outs, senior Hunt Pate reached base and advanced to third. Sophomore catcher Noa Quintanillia then hit a grounder, allowing Pate to score the game’s first run. Freshman Cole Grady followed with a single, bringing in another run before the inning concluded. The Rebels led 2–0, signaling their intent.

The Rebels’ bats came alive in the second inning. Sophomore Ben Kelly initiated the rally with a walk and a stolen base. Grady contributed with a short hit, and junior James Graham added a single, loading the bases. Junior Garris Warren then delivered a crucial hit, bringing in two runs. Pate continued the momentum with a single, followed by Quintanillia’s double that cleared the bases. By the inning’s end, North Duplin had added seven runs, extending their lead to 9–0.

In the third, North Duplin maintained their offensive pressure. Grady reached base on a walk, and freshman Noah Price followed with a single. Senior Branson Martin then hit a triple, bringing in both runners. Martin later scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman Garrett Stevens. The Rebels added three more runs, pushing the score to 12–0.

The fourth inning saw North Duplin’s most prolific scoring. Freshman Jackson Lee started with a walk and a stolen base. Grady and Graham each contributed singles, loading the bases. Warren then hit a double, bringing in two runs. Pate and Quintanillia continued the onslaught with consecutive hits, each adding to the tally. Martin capped the inning with a home run, bringing in three more runs. The Rebels amassed nine runs in the inning, leading to a 21–0 scoreline.

While the offense was dominant, North Duplin’s defense was equally impressive. Pitchers Kayden Bowden and Keiz Brock combined to limit Union’s hitters, recording multiple strikeouts and allowing minimal base runners. The infield, anchored by Warren and Price, executed flawlessly, turning double plays and fielding cleanly. Outfielders Carter and Holmes ensured no fly balls dropped, maintaining the shutout.
