Zambelli-Burke repeat as Pickle Classic champs

Just call them "repeat offenders."

The tandem of John Zambelli-Jonathan Burke carded a stout second-day 61 and successfully defended their Pickle Classic championship on the Southern Wayne Country Club links.

The duo earned a box of Mt. Olive jarred pickles, a putter and split a $400 payout.

It was Zambelli's fourth Classic title and Burke's second.

Judson Pope used a 5-iron and posted on an ace on No. 8. He holed out from 154 yards (white tees). It was the sixth hole-in-one of his career.

A total of 96 teams competed for 35 prizes in seven flights. Scorecard playoffs determine the winner in five flights.

Flight winners were:

1st - Jim Alford-Denny Buchanan (131)

2nd - Hayden Gardner-Taylor Gardner (138)

3rd - Dan Pearce-David Galloway (142)

4th - Kevin Kornegay-Mark Raylor (146)

5th - Doug Saunders-Brandon Saunders (150)

6th - Jimmy Casteen-Linwood Casteen (158)

7th - Donny Brown-Kanada Roach (164).
