Women’s Day, revivals coming up at local churches

Greetings from the Wesley-Smith Chapel community.

Deliverance Temple Revival Center, where the pastor is Apostle Lester Coward, invites you to worship with the church at the American Legion building in Mount Olive, due to renovations. A revival service will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 8-10 at the American Legion with Elder Choice Barnes of Valdosta, Georgia, serving as the guest preacher. A worship service is to be held at the American Legion every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call Coward at 919-731-4589.

Holy Temple Miracle Tabernacle, 521 Guthrie Turner Road, Snow Hill, will hold its spring revival May 8-10 at 7:30 p.m. Apostle Leroy Hargett of Life Changing Kingdom Ministry in Clayton will serve as guest speaker. The Rev. Deloise Waddell invites you to come and fellowship.

Moses Chapel Church of Christ in Faison will host a spring revival at 7:30 p.m. May 8-10 with St. Luke Church to provide the music on May 9.

Whosoever Will Disciples of Christ Church, 9766 U.S. 701, Newton Grove, will celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12, at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Tamika M. Powell of Holly Grove Church in Clinton, giving the guest sermon. The Rev. Dr. Gertie Stevens invites you.

New Life Worship Center, 218 Maple St., will celebrate Women’s Day on Sunday, May 12, at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Maria Jackson Bell, delivering the guest message with music by Gospel Light Temple Choir of Goldsboro. The pastor, Elder Janice Williams, invites you to come and fellowship.

St. James Church of Christ, 514 S. Breazeale Ave., will celebrate Women’s Day on Sunday, May 12, at 11 a.m. with Apostle Nancy Reid serving as guest preacher and the Ray of Hope Praise Team of Snow Hill providing the music. The Pastor Elder Ernest and Evangelist Sadie Watson invite you to attend.

Holy Temple UHC in Calypso will celebrate Women’s Day on Sunday, May 12, at 11 a.m. The Pastor Elder Scottie Rogers invites you along with mother Betty Boykin.

First Congregational Church in Dudley will celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12, at 11 a.m. Dr. Schenita Davis Randolph of Mebane will deliver the sermon.

New Greenleaf Church of Christ, 301 W. Hooks River Road, will host a consecration revival at 7:30 p.m. May 16-17 with Elder Terrell Powell and Evangelist Tameka Powell of Holly Grove Church of Christ in Clinton, delivering the message. The Rev. Dr. Dorothy Heath invites you to come and fellowship.

St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, will celebrate Women’s Day on Sunday, May 19, at 11 a.m. with Elder Cynthia Barnes set to deliver the message with music by New Beginning Gospel Choir. The pastor, Elder Kenneth Freeman, and assistant pastor, Elderess Velma McKinley, invite you to come and fellowship. The colors will be white and blue.

Smith Chapel Church, 141 Veachs Mill Road, Warsaw, will celebrate Women’s Day on Sunday, May 19, at 11 a.m. with Elder Esther Ashford serving as guest preacher and the Stanley Chapel Choir providing the music. The Pastor Elder Herman Bell invites you to come and fellowship. Nannie Barfield also invites you and all women to join them.

Pleasant Union Church of Christ in Grantham will celebrate its second annual Men and Women’s Day service on Sunday, May 19, at 11 a.m. with guest preacher, Elder James Newsome, and St. Paul Church of Zebulon choir, usher and congregation. Rev. Valerie Jones will give the exposition of the theme “Men & Women Trusting God’s Promises.” Everyone is invited to come and fellowship.

Running Branch Church of Christ, 354 Running Branch Road, Clinton, will present “I Survived It,” its 2019 youth conference, at 7:30 each night May 22-24. Elder Shawn Hicks and Spring Green Church of Christ will lead the service May 22. Elder LaKevia Underwood of Clinton will lead the service on May 23. The Rev. Leonard Henry of First Baptist Church will deliver the message on May 24.

The Dillard Goldsboro Alumni and Friends, Inc., will present summer’s largest yard sale at 801 Poplar St., Goldsboro, on Saturday, June 1, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will offer something for everyone, including apparel, homemade soap, costume jewelry, basketball trading cards and more. Mark your calendar for Pleasant Union Church of Christ’s service in Grantham as the church celebrates the anniversary of its pastor, Elder Shirley Howard, at 11 a.m. June 3. The guest preacher will be announced later.

Kalisha Ward, her fiancée, EJ, her brother, Ronald Ward, Jr., and son visited their parents, Ronald and Dorothy Ward and celebrated their father’s birthday with dinner at Olive Garden on Saturday in Goldsboro.
