Wayne County over 1,000 mark in COVID-19 cases


Wayne County has surpassed 1,000 cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning, according to Wayne County Government.

There are 1,028 total positive cases of coronavirus - 469 came from Neuse Correctional Institute and 69 are attributed to other congregrate care living facilities.

There have been 18 deaths.

It is estimated that 672 people have recovered, which leaves approximately 300-plus active cases in Wayne County.

The NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) reports there have been 24,140 lab-confirmed cases of the virus as of Tuesday and 766 cases have resulted in death.
