University of Mount Olive had a busy day on the hardwood and turf.

Victim of a 31-point loss in their previous meeting against Emmanuel College just 10 days ago, the University of Mount Olive women’s basketball exacted revenge Tuesday evening.
Ayanna Cotten pumped in 19 points and drained four 3-pointers as the sixth-seeded Trojan women stunned the Lions, 63-59, in quarterfinal-round play of the 2021 Conference Carolinas tournament.
UMO (7-6 overall) faces second-seeded Barton in the semifinals Thursday.
A third-team, All-CC selection, Ivanda Hudjakova tied the game at 59-59 on a layup with 81 seconds left in regulation. Cotten’s free throw pushed the Trojans in front, 60-59.
Hudjakova’s steal led to a foul and subsequent technical foul against the Lions’ Breanna Locke. Hudjakova nailed both free throws with 15 seconds to go. She concluded the night with 13 points, including an 8 for 8 performance at the stripe.
Azariah Fields sealed the outcome, 63-59, with a free throw at the 13-second mark. Fields stuffed her stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - Senior Johanna Andersson posted a 54-hole round of 231 and helped guide UMO to a ninth-place finish as a team during the Low Tide Intercollegiate contested at the Dunes West Golf and River Club.
Andersson moved up 30 spots on the leaderboard the final day. She has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Week.
Tindra Tyrsing (224), Emma Leclercq (246) and Linn Andersson (247) rounded out the team scoring.
The Trojans return to the links March 15-16 at the Cobra Spring Invite in South Carolina.
DUE WEST, S.C. - Tobi Azeez paced a balanced offensive attack with 11 kills as UMO swept Conference Carolinas foe Erskine 25-19, 25-15, 25-14 in conference action Monday afternoon.
Azeez has been named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week for the second time this season, and was selected co-National Outside Attacker of the Week by Off The Block. He posted 45 kills and 19 digs in consecutive five-set victories over Barton and Emmanuel College.
A native of Australia, Azeez hit .381 against Erskine.
Luke Visgitis (three blocks) and Iyanu Adebisi recorded 10 and eight kills, respectively, in the three-set sweep. Adebisi registered a team-high 10 digs, one more than Azeez.
Jarrod Ferguson doled out 33 assists.
The Trojans (8-1 overall, 7-1 CC) return home Friday to face in-state league rival Lees-McRae.
NEWBERRY, S.C. - Goalie Victoria Lane notched six saves outside the box as UMO fell 6-0 to Newberry on Tuesday afternoon.
Eline Udo logged the Trojans’ lone shot on goal.
The Wolves owned a 14-2 edge in penalty corners.
The Trojans (0-3 overall) entertain Coker College on March 12.
BELMONT - Quest Aldridge buried the game-winning shot as time expired and lifted Belmont Abbey past UMO, 63-61, in quarterfinal-round action of the 2021 Conference Carolinas tournament Tuesday evening.
Alan Treakle drained a game-tying 3-pointer to make it 57-57 with 2:20 left in regulation. The second-seeded Crusaders moved back in front 61-57 before the Trojans rallied.
All-Conference Carolinas first-team pick Johnny Hughes III converted two free throws and Treakle knotted the game at 61-all on a layup with eight seconds to go.
Matthias Caver shot 9 of 12 from the floor and logged 22 points for the Trojans, who concluded the year 5-10 overall. Hughes III added 16 points and eight rebounds, followed by Treakle with 13 points.
DUE WEST, S.C. - Ele’sia Williams cranked out a team-high 12 kills and collected 11 digs during UMO’s 19-25, 25-10, 25-23, 25-18 triumph over Erskine in a Conference Carolinas battle Monday.
Starr Sergent (eight digs) and Camryn Huber supplied 11 kills apiece.
Jenna Myer distributed 24 assists, while Madison Goodman handed out 15.
Morgan Prots emerged as the defensive leader with 17 digs.
The Trojans (1-1 overall, 1-1 CC) play host to Lees-McRae on Friday.
