Limestone scored 69 seconds into the opening quarter and eased past University of Mount Olive, 3-1, during their Conference Carolinas women’s field hockey match Tuesday afternoon.
Mckenzie Yi notched a penalty goal for UMO in the 50th minute.
Manon Vincent scored twice for the Saints.
Trojan goalie Victoria Lane collected five saves.
UMO (0-2 overall) is the guest of Newberry College on March 2.
Men’s lacrosse
NEWBERRY, S.C. - Samuel Skousen delivered the game-deciding goal midway through the fourth quarter and lifted nationally-ranked University of Mount Olive past Newberry, 10-9, on Tuesday evening.
The Trojans built a five-goal advantage, only to see the Wolves climb to within 8-6 at halftime.
Newberry tied the match at 8-8 before UMO’s Aidan Lalonde completed his hat trick (three goals) on a man-up possession in the fourth period.
Tied at 9-9, Lalonde found the back of the net on Connor Watson’s assist with 7:42 remaining in regulation.
The teams combined for 11 penalties.
UMO goalie Andrew Avarello logged 14 saves.
The Trojans (4-0 overall) return home March 10 to face Colorado Mesa University.
Cancellations/Postponements
UMO’s tennis match with in-state rival Wingate was cancelled.
The Trojans’ road basketball doubleheader at Chowan University was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. A make-up date has not been announced.
