Trio arrested in fleeing car theft case

Wayne County authorities have charged two Mount Olive men and a Seven Springs women with car theft.

According to a release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the department’s Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team attempted to stop a vehicle on N.C. Highway 111 for a safe movement violation. The driver, 42-year-old Brandon Carroll Grady of 335 Albert Grady Road, Mount Olive, attempted to flee the scene, the release states.

A high-speed chase ensued for 11 miles with Grady and officers exceeding a speed of 113 mph, deputies say. The pursuit ended when officers used stop sticks to puncture the tires of Grady’s vehicle, they added.

Charged with felony flee to arrest, Grady was also wanted on a felony parole violation. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

Also arrested were 43-year-old Richard Morris Sanderson of 569 Kelly Road, Mount Olive, and 27-year-old Ashley Nichole Parks of 3523 N.C. Highway 111, Seven Springs. Sanderson and Parks were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
