Town officials may be close to finding a finance officer.
Seven applicants have shown interest in the position, according to Town Manager Jammie Royall.
Royall said one person has caught the committee’s attention, but is currently working under a contract that doesn’t end for about another month.
“I would call that person one of interest,” Royall said.
Hiring a new finance officer is critical because town officials are preparing the fiscal budget for next year.
Royall expects the vacancy to be filled soon.
