Town employees show continued decline in COVID cases

COVID cases continue to decline with no new positive tests reported among the town of Mount Olive’s labor force within the last month.

Town Manager Jammie Royall is keeping his fingers crossed.

“This is the longest time we have gone without a reported case since it all started two years ago,” he said. “I’m not going to jump into it too far, but we are keeping a close eye out on the numbers.”

All town employees are required to wear a mask on the job, but Royall said that mandate could change.

Any resident who enters a town facility must still wear a face covering.

“Our employees have really followed the guidelines we put in place for them to guard against it,” Royall said.

Goshen Medical on Center Street continues to screen for COVID-19 cases and has a drive-thru testing location behind its office.

“It has worked out well for us and there were a few that tested positive, but they were immediately quarantined for five days,” Royall said.
