This church will be celebrating its 122nd homecoming Feb. 16


Greetings and sadness on this day in the loss of a special lady Pastor Jessie Mae Grimes, who passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, and of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gigi Bryant, and the others lost when a helicopter crashed on Sunday, Jan. 26. Our hearts, sympathy, prayers and love are with each and everyone of the Grimes family and Grimes’ Holy Ghost Cathedral Church family.

Our sympathy and prayers are also with the family of Sierra Pigford, wife of Dallas Pigford. Lord please send your angel to protect Dallas and his children during this very difficult time. My heart is sad and my love goes out to the family.

The upcoming services are set to be held at local churches:

  • Goshen Disciple Church, 7120 Suttontown Road, Faison, will present a “Relationship With Gods Own Heart” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8. The program is open to couples, singles and widows. Tickets are on sale for $25 per couple or $15 for singles. Catered food, door prizes, games and more will be featured. Elder Shirley Devone, the event’s facilitator, invites you to come and fellowship.
  • St. John Original Freewill Baptist Church, 446 Jim Grady Road, in the Beatancus community, invites you to worship with the church every second and fourth Sunday at 11 a.m. On Sunday, Feb. 9 a fellowship service will be held at 3 p.m. with guest preacher Pastor Corey Brown and the Mincey Chapel Church Choir and congregation rendering the service. The pastor, Elder Demaris Stevens, invites everyone to come and fellowship.
  • Save the date for Minister Carl Faison’s anniversary services to be held every Sunday night in February at 7:30 p.m. On Feb. 9, Apostle Carl Jones of Durham will deliver the message. More information will be provided on future services.
  • LifeWay Church, 115 E. Washington St., LaGrange, invite you to their Touch of Love Celebration at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. Tickets are on sale for $20 per couple. LifeWay Church invites you to worship with the church every Sunday at 9 a.m. and join the congregation in Bible study every Thursday at 7 p.m. Pastor Jay Lewis leads the church with Cindy Lewis.
  • Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ, 3616 U.S. Highway 13, Grantham, will celebrate its 122nd Homecoming Celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 with special guest Elder Michael Best, an associate minister of Deeper Life Church Ministries, and soloist Samaria Broderick of Old Landmark Church in Zebulon. The pastor, Elder Shirley Howard, invites you to come and fellowship.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road will celebrate Love Day at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 with music by the youth choir and the word delivered by Elder Kenneth Freeman. Lunch will be available to purchase at $5 a plate with homemade vegetable soup, a sandwich and dessert with drink. Mother Board is providing the lunch. At 3 p.m. on Love Day, the church will hold a musical concert with special guests, the St. James Male Chorus of Goldsboro and the Dynamic Joy Sisters of Faison. The church invites each and everyone to come and fellowship.
  • New St. Delight UHC, 693 Suttontown Road, hosts worship services every Sunday at 11 a.m. Bible studies are held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Feb. 16 guest preacher Elder Demarkus Faison will lead the service. Pastor Travis Gardener invites you.
  • Deeper Life Church Ministries, 900 Eleventh St., Goldsboro, invites you to worship service every Sunday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Aaron McNair Jr. delivering the message. The Pastor Apostle Norbert Simmons invites you to come and fellowship. For more information, call 919-736-8232.

Breazeale Ave., will celebrate deacons and trustees in a 3:30 p.m. service on Sunday, Feb. 23 with special guest Elder Thomas Raynor and Running Branch Church of Christ’s choir, usher and congregation of Clinton, rendering the service. Pastor Ernest Watson Sr. invites all to come and fellowship.
  • Higher Power Deliverance Ministries at The Sleep Inn Hotel, 203 N.C. Highway 55 W., will honor its Pastor Cliff Southerland’s first pastoral anniversary at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 with Special Guest Pastor Anthony Flow; on Thursday, Feb. 27 with Bishop Alton Smith and the St. Mark Church of Christ Choir, usher and congregation of Goldsboro leading the service; and on Friday night, Feb. 28 with Apostle Leroy Hargett and the Life Changers Kingdom Ministry Choir and congregation of Selma rendering the service. The grand finale will begain at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 1 with special guest Pastor Dennis Battle delivering the message.
  • Life Changers Kingdom Ministry will celebrate musicians Darryon Hargett and Louis Bradley III at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 at Shiloh Christian Church, 211 Durham St., Smithfield. The event will feature The Wade Sisters, Divine Praise, Pilgrim Travelers of Zebulon, Tru Prayz of Smithfield, Sensational Heavenly Voices, The Rouse Brothers and others. Apostle Leroy Hargett and Apostle Francine Hargett invite you to come and help celebrate these awesome musicians.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ invites you to save the dates of April 1-3 when the church will host its spring revival at 7:30 pm nightly. Pastor Curtis Lee and the EFC Ministry of Mount Olive will lead the service April 1. Elder Thomas Raynor and the Running Branch Church choir and congregation of Clinton will lead the service April 2.
