The victim of a 2 a.m. shooting on Kornegay Street June 29 is currently listed as “stable” at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, and police say the hunt to find his shooter is an ongoing investigation.
Chief Tommy Brown said Demario Leach of Pearl Street in Dudley, suffered five gunshot wounds to the upper torso and arm and “is lucky to be alive.”
Leach was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the front porch of a home on Kornegay Street.
It appears Leach was shot by someone using a 9 mm handgun, the chief said.
No weapon was found at the scene, but officers did recover a number of shell casings. At least one of the bullets allegedly fired that night also struck the home, Brown said. Three people inside the home escaped injury.
Investigators are working to solve the case.
