ROSE HILL - Seven players accounted for touchdowns, while Robert Strickland and Logan Pollock spearheaded the defense during Spring Creek’s 48-0 conquest of Union on Friday evening.
Strickland logged seven tackles, three quarterback sacks, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. Pollock posted nine tackles and three stops behind the line of scrimmage.
The duo helped the Gators post just their fourth shutout in program history and first since 2017.
“[Our] defense line set the tone by creating a push and also making plays in the backfield,” said Spring Creek head coach Daniel Robinson.
Douglas Davidson emerged as the Gators’ offensive leader with 107 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. Quarterback Lucas Barfield rambled for 52 yards, a pair of two TDs and completed a 25-yard scoring pass to Gabriel Lopez.
Dorian Cherry contributed 53 yards and a TD.
Josiah Salo-Harris provided 45 yards and a TD.
Spring Creek amassed 350 yards of total offense.
“Our running backs did a better job tonight of finishing runs and running through contact,” Robinson said. “Most importantly, tonight we had zero turnovers and forced several defensively.”
The Gators (2-0 overall) travel to Bear Grass Charter next Friday. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m.
