Some services canceled, others still on for now

Greetings from the Wesley Smith Chapel community! God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and love and sound mind. Trust God and obey as 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us.

The Shepherd Care of St. Luke Church of Christ would like to say thank you to Bishop Robert Hood and St. Mark Church of Faro and the Oak Grove Church Choir, usher and congregation for rendering an awesome service on Sunday, March 15. What an awesome service Fill the Pew was. Keep each other in prayer and know that we love each and everybody. Please check on our elderly make sure they got all that they need.

  • Gospel Revival Uplift Ministries, 120 E. Hillsboro St., still plans to host its revival Wednesday-Friday at 8 nightly with guest revivalist preacher Apostle Lester Coward of Deliverance Temple Ministry in Dudley. Elder Shirley Pigford invites you to come.
  • The Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly Union Meeting that was scheduled for March 28 and 29 has been canceled due to the coronavirus. Bishop Robert Hood and Vice Bishop Rodney Parker is asking everyone to remain safe and stay home.
  • On Sunday, April 19 at 11 a.m. our youth choir at St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, will render the music with our youth speaker Samyia Bess, daughter of Rick and Cindy Bess, and Elder Kenneth Freeman delivering the message. Spring Revival set for April 1-3, has been canceled.
  • Mission week services scheduled for April 6-11 at Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly has been canceled. The services will be rescheduled for a later date.
  • St. James Church of Christ on Breazeale Avenue is still planning to hold its Spring Revival April 8-10 at 7:30 nightly with guest revivalist preacher Dr. Hattie Lofton of Smithfield. Different choirs will render the music each night. The pastor, Elder Ernest Watson, and Sadie Watson invite you to join them, hopefully.   • Holly Grove Church of Christ, 114 N. McCullen Road, Clinton, plan to present its Gospel Music Spring Fundraiser at 5 p.m. on April 11, featuring Apostle Norbert Simmons and The Gospelaires of Goldsboro, Bishop Bobby Ingram and The Trenton All Stars of Trenton, with Sisters of Christ opening the program.
  • New Life Worship Center, 218 Maple St., is planning to hold its Spring Revival April 15-17 at 7:30 nightly revivalist preacher Apostle Michael Artis of St. John Church in Snow Hill and Prayer Tabernacle Ministry of Dudley. Elder Janice Williams invites you to join them.
  • New Jackson Tabernacle FB Church, 431 E. Franklin St., plans to present Spring Revival at 7:30 nightly April 15-17 with guest revivalist, Preacher Elder Clifton Hall, the ruling elder of the Philadelphia Pennsylvania District. Music will be rendered by different choirs each night. The pastor, Elder Betty Faison, invites each of you to come and fellowship in this great revival.
  • St. John UH Church, 706 W. Fremont St., Burgaw, plans to host its Spring Revival April 28-30 at 7 nightly with guest revivalist Elder Tonya Ham. Elder Devin Pickett invites you to join them for revival.

    Happy birthday on March 16 to Johnny Boykin Jr. of Greensboro, from your parents, siblings, Mt. Zion Church of Deliverance Ministry family and Apostle Kimberly Armstrong. Happy birthday on March 17 to Kenneth Freeman Jr. of Burlington, Elizabeth Bell Blackmore and Elder Lula Newkirk. Happy birthday on March 20 to Renee Henderson, Yvonne Williams of Faison and my cousin, Julia Graham; on March 27 to my brother, Dennis Ward; and on March 31 to Apostle Mary Bunch.

    Let’s continue to keep one another in prayer, check on our elderly and be watchful of each other, but most of all let’s stay in our homes as the governor has demanded.

    Elderess Velma McKinley would like to thank each and everyone who showed love, called and for the many birthday cards and flowers that she received as she celebrated her 92 birthday with a celebration given by her children. I personally would like to say this gorgeous, fabulous, young prayer warrior for all of her prayers for the St. Luke Church family as she has done for so many years. I love you, Ma Velma.
