University of Mount Olive Associate Director of Athletics LaToya Lindsey recently announced the hiring Sheldron Fulcher as its new head cheerleading coach.

“We are excited to have Sheldron join the Trojan family. His background in cheer and judging with the National Cheer Association should help propel our competitive cheer team to the next level,” Lindsey said. “The program is fortunate to have his perspective and understanding of cheerleading from a Division I and national level.”

Fulcher joins UMO after spending the last nine years as the head instructor at Edge Cheer and Dance (a member of the National Cheerleaders Association) in Raleigh. Fulcher also served a stint as an assistant coach at Campbell University from 2014-17, where he helped lead the Camels to a CanAm Large Co-ed Collegiate National Championship.

Prior to arriving in Buies Creek, Fulcher was the head coach at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School for two years. During that time, the squad achieved first-place in the Cheer for a Cure JV Non-Tumble division in his first season.

Fulcher attended N.C. State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in art studies with a concentration in music and was a member of the Wolfpack Cheerleading Team.
