Several programs planned for this month and next

Greetings and many blessings to each of you from the Wesley Smith Chapel community.

  • Holy Temple UHC in Calypso will present its Mission, Love Day and Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Sunday with the pastor, Elder Scottie Rodgers, delivering the message and music by the choir.
  • Life Changers Kingdom Ministry, 270 Motorcycle Road, Clayton, invites you to join the church in a Koinonia Service set for 4 p.m. Sunday with special guest Bishop Devin Pickett Sr. to deliver the message. The Apostles Leroy and Francine Hargett invite you to come and fellowship.
  • Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly, 214 W. Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, will celebrate Founders Day at 11 a.m. Saturday with the word delivered by Elder Dr. Dianne Peppers and music by the choir. Black African attire is requested, please. Apostle Nancy Reid along with Bishop Robert Hood and Vice Bishop Rodney Parker invite you to come and fellowship.
  • A climax appreciation celebration honoring Minister Carl Faison will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday with Dr. Everlena Oliver and the St. Jude Church of Christ Choir and congregation rendering the service.
  • Higher Power Deliverance Ministries inside the Sleep Inn Hotel, 203 N.C. Highway 55 W., will host its first pastoral anniversary for Pastor Cliff Southerland Feb. 26-Feb. 28 with a climax celebration on Sunday, March 1 at 10 a.m. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., Pastor Anthony Flow and the St. Luke Choir of Rose Hill will render the service. On Thursday at 7 p.m., Bishop Alton Smith and the St. Mark Church Choir and congregation of Goldsboro will render the service. On Friday at 7 p.m., Apostle Leroy Hargett and Life Changers Kingdom Ministry of Clayton will lead the service. Pastor Dennis Battle will lead the climax service on Sunday.
  • Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly’s Department of Women’s Ministry will present its women’s conference Feb. 26-29 with day sessions beginning at 8 a.m. and evening sessions on Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. The Wednesday session will begin at 8 a.m. with lectures by Doris Smith, Elder Katie Armstrong and Gwendolyn Pittsman. On Thursday, Dr. Everlena Oliver will deliver the word. On Friday night, the Rev. Leslie Morrisey and Greater Six Run MB Church of Turkey will deliver the message. The president, Dr. Everlena Oliver, and vice president, Dr. Phyllis Forte, along with the Bishop Robert Hood and Vice Bishop Rodney Parker invite all to come and support the conference.
  • Like Morning Dew Ministries will present a breakthrough worship service at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at Oak Grove Church of Christ, 1488 Browntown Road, Snow Hill, with Elder Tachala Hood delivering the message.
  • The Unity Organization will hold its 15th Annual Black History Parade with a lineup beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 on Henderson Street near the University of Mount Olive. The parade will start at 1 p.m., stepping off from Rose’s parking lot. The route will follow Breazeale Avenue to the South of the Carver Cultural Center where it will disband. To participate in the parade, call Vickie Darden at 919-658-3961. I’m looking forward to celebrating the Black History Parade.
  • Life Changers Kingdom Ministry of Clayton will present its Musician Appreciation Celebration for Darryon Hargett and Louis Bradley III at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 at Shiloh Christian Church, 211 Durham St., Smithfield, featuring The Rouse Brothers, TruPrayz of Smithfield, The Pilgrim Travelers of Zebulon, Blessed of Spivey’s Corner, JW Higher Prayz of Smithfield and The Wade Sisters of Goldsboro. Apostles Leroy and Francine Hargett invite each and everyone to come and help show love and celebrate their musicians. Our prayers are with Loretta Howard, who is a patient at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Please keep Martha Howard and Henritta along with their children and grandchildren in your prayers.
  • A Love Banquet will be held at Ray of Hope, U.S. Highway 13, Snow Hill, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29. Donations of $10 will be accepted. Please call Apostle Nancy Reid at 252-714-1932 or Teresa Baker at 919-288-6565.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, will celebrate Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 1 with the word delivered by Elder Kenneth Freeman and music by the gospel choir. Dinner will be served. I personally would like to invite all family and friends to join us for Family and Friends Day.
  • Last Day Outreach Ministry, 110 E. Church St., Rose Hill, invites you to Sunday morning Encounter Worship services on the first and third Sunday of the month at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Temekia Michelle Newkirk Powell delivering the message. The pastor, Apostle Carolyn Newkirk, and co-pastor, Elder John Newkirk, invite each and all to come and fellowship and asks the community to keep Apostle Carolyn Newkirk in your prayers.
  • House of Prayer, 958 Sleepy Creek Road, Dudley, invites you to worship services every second and fourth Sunday of the month at 11 a.m. and on the fourth Sunday at 3 p.m. Apostle Michael Artis serves as pastor at the church.
  • Men of F.I.C. will celebrate its annual banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the American Legion hall in Mount Olive with special guest Raymond Smith. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from any member of Men of F.I.C. or you can call Al Southerland at 919-394-0198.
  • Save the date of March 8 to celebrate and honor Apostle Kimberly Armstrong at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church of Deliverance, 207 Odom St., Calypso. More details will be given.
  • Saints Delight United Holy Church, 976 La Grange Road, La Grange, invites you to an appreciation celebration honoring lady elect Sharon Pickett on March 8 at 4 p.m. with special guest Elder Mary Jackson of Jerusalem UH Church in Reidsville rendering the service. The pastor, Bishop Devin Pickett Sr. and the church family invites you to come and show love to this awesome amazing woman of God.

    Happy birthday on Feb. 28 to Caroletha Langley.

    Happy birthday in heaven to my friend and cousin Michael Howard, who would have celebrated his birthday on Feb. 24. I miss him so very much. I love him and he is in my heart each and every day because there was not too many days during the week when I didn’t talk to him. Well, on a sad note with lots of sympathy, love and peace we lost our beloved Heneritta Howard who passed on Saturday.

    Final thoughts

    Our prayers, sympathy and love are with the family of Charles Grantham Jr., 54, of Goldsboro who was funeralized at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 at the Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly. Burial was held at the Eastern Carolina State Veteran Cemetery. Services were handled by Haskin Funeral Home.

    A homegoing celebration for Xavier Pearsall, 23, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Holy Ghost Cathedral Church. Burial followed in the Carver Memorial Park. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers that God will give them the strength to endure. J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home assisted the family. Pearsall’s parents, Lisa and Robert Pearsall would like to thank the many friends, classmates, family, friends and church family for all your prayers. What a difficult time this has been for the family!

    Dallas Pigford would like to thank the many family and friends and the Gospel Uplift Revival Ministry for all you have done during the passing of his wife, Sierra. Please keep the children and Dallas in your prayers.

    Dr. Schenita Davis Randolph was honored as a nominee among Duke University School of Nursing nominees for the Samuel DuBois Cook Award. Congratulations to all of the nominees at Duke University. Congratulations to my princess, Dr. Schenita Davis Randolph, for all of your hard work.

    Congratulations to Elder Rodney Parker who was installed as Pastor of Little Rock Church of Christ in Pikeville at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9.

    My heart was saddened to hear of the passing of Tony Edmundson of Goldsboro. Keep the family in your prayers.

    I, along with our pastor Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church Program Committee, would like to thank Cheryl Dobson for doing an excellent job as our Love Day Speaker on Sunday and to the soloist Ervin Best and soloist Albert Manley and to the Joy Sister for such an excellent job done on our Love Day Celebration. Thank you, Barbara Seale, for an excellent message on “What is Love” and to Ann Faison for being our mistress of ceremony; to Elder Cynthia Barnes, Patricia Bass, to our Pastor Elder Kenneth Freeman and most of all the Mother Board for such a good, delicious vegetable soup, sandwich and dessert lunch with punch.

    Until next week, remember this month is love month so show love at all times.
