GOLDSBORO - Three Southern Wayne swimmers emerged as multiple-event victors during an Eastern Carolina 3A-4A meet contested Tuesday afternoon.
Marlena Warrick touched the wall first in the 200 and 500 free.
Carson Daly took the 200 and 500 free, while Nolan Joyner topped the field in the 200 individual medley (IM) and 100 free. Joyner shaved 17 seconds off of his seed time in the IM.
Brittanya Norris prevailed in the 100 back.
Nathan Joyner competed unopposed in the 100 butterfly and posted a time of 1 minute, 9.99 seconds - nearly two seconds faster than his seed time.
The quartet of Nathan and Nolan Joyner, Dylan Daniels and Robert Cox claimed the 200 free relay. The Joyner twins, Daly and multi-sport athlete Wyatt Womble teamed together for a 0.51-second win over Charles B. Aycock in the 400 free relay.
Aycock’s Carson Gainous, who also swims for the Goldsboro Sharks in the offseason, won the 100 backstroke. Teammate Emma Swenson claimed the 50 free.
Eastern Wayne’s Carlos Diaz placed first in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke. Fellow Warrior Emily Chamberlain logged a first-place time of 1:19.15 in the 100 free. She topped her seed time by nearly 10 seconds.
