Revivals, summer gala coming up at local churches

Greetings from the Wesley Smith Chapel community. Upcoming services and revivals at local churches, include:

  • St. Luke MB Church, 3414 Summerlin Crossroad Road, will have its fall revival Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30 with Elder Donald Graham set to preach on Wednesday night and music by Sampson Chapel Church choir and the Clinton congregation leading the service. Pastor Elder James Davis invite all to come and fellowship. The revival’s Thursday and Friday night preachers will be announced on the church’s Facebook page.
  • Deliverance Temple Revival Ministry in Dudley invite you to come and help celebrate Apostle Lester Coward’s 65th pastoral anniversary at services set for 7 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday. All are invited to come and help show love to this awesome amazing man of God. Monetary gifts, cards and your presence are welcome. Happy 65th anniversary to Apostle Lester Coward! Thank you for all your prayers, your love and your phone calls with your words of encouragements.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, will host its summer gala at 6 p.m. Saturday with a yellow-and-green colored theme. Dress is casual. A donation of $10 will be accepted. The gala will feature food, entertainment and fellowship.
  • Holy Temple UHC in Calypso will celebrate Women’s Day at 11 a.m. Sunday with guest preacher Elder Patricia Faison delivering the message. All women are invited to come and fellowship at Holy Temple. Pastor Elder Scottie and Tonya Rogers, along with the women of the church invite you.   • Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church choir, usher and congregation will render a service at St. Stephen Church of Christ, 308 W. 1st St., Princeton, at 11 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Bishop Ronnie Hood invites you.
  • Elder Anthony Ezzell and the First Baptist Church choir, usher and congregation of Calypso will render a revival at their church in Kenansville on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, will have a fall revival at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28-30 with Evangelist Vondra McClain and music by the First Baptist Church choir and ushers of Calypso on Wednesday night. On Thursday night, Dr. Hattie Lofton will lead the service with music by the St. James Church choir and ushers from Mount Olive. Bishop Alton Smith and the St. Mark Church choir and congregation of Goldsboro will lead the service Friday night. Pastor Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church family invite you to come and fellowship with us.
  • A free Community Fun Day celebration is set to be held at New Saints Delight UH Church, 693 Suttontown Road, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, featuring bouncy houses, food and many games. For more information, call Mary Ward Wooten at 919-658-4789.
  • Mark your calendar and save the dates of Oct. 22-27 for the 141st annual session to be held at the Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly, 211 Hooks River Road, Goldsboro.

    Happy special birthday to my Uncle Ezekial Ward, who celebrated Aug. 10; to Apostle Lester Coward, who also celebrated Aug. 10 from your niece, your best friend, Elder Kenneth Freeman, the St. Luke church family and from Deliverance Temple Revival.

    Happy 88 years young to cousin Evenlyn Ward Lindsay of Baltimore, Maryland, who celebrated her birthday on Aug. 9 from the Ezekial and Annie Ward Family Reunion and your entire Clevenland Ward family. I would like to send a special thank you to the chairman of the Ezekial and Annie Ward Family reunion, Reginald Ward, and the Dream Team Committee, who helped make The Ward Family Reunion 2019 Coming Home such a success. We had an amazing turnout with family members from everywhere: Florida, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Greensboro, Charlotte, Virginia, Philadelphia, Clinton, Mebane, Raleigh, Goldsboro, Mount Olive and many other places.

    A special thank you to Stacy Lewis, Clara Coley, Caroletha Langley, Larry Ward, Joe Lewis McLaurin, Michael Ward and Phillip for the beautiful decorations, Thank you Elder Donald Graham for preaching an awesome message and for being our advisor for the Ward Family Reunion and Elder Lonnie Manley for presiding. Thank you to the Ward Gospel Singers for rendering the music and to Elder Dante Randolph for being our musician.

    Mark your calendar and save the dates of Aug. 7-9, 2020, when the Ezekial and Annie Ward Family Reunion will come back home again to Goldsboro.

    A special thank you to all of the children: Granger Selma, Lucian, Roosevelt, Pennie Martin, Ardelia Martin, Annie Reece McKinnie, Cleveland, Raymond, Vancie, Julia Graham, Fletcher, Jessie, Ezekial and Lillie N. Ward, the children of Ezekial and Annie Ward. We had an awesome secretary, Tonya Baggett, the daughter of Mack Baggett and granddaughter of Ezekial and Lillie N. Ward.
