Revivals, ‘Joy Night’, ‘Fill the Pew’ services coming up

Greetings and love from the Wesley Smith Chapel community.

Several events are coming up at local churches.

  • Ram in the Bush Church in Clinton invites you to revival at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 with guest preacher, Elder Gertie Stevens and the Whosoever Disciple Church Choir of Newton Grove rendering the service.
  • St. Stephen Church of Christ, 432 First Ave., Trenton, is hosting a Rededication Revival through Friday at 7 each night. On Wednesday, Bishop Chester L. Aycock of St. Paul Church of Christ in Wilson will lead the service. On Thursday at 7 p.m., Bishop Alton Smith of St. Mark Church of Christ in Goldsboro will render the service. On Friday night, a concert with special guest Doc McKenzie and the HiLites of South Carolina will climax the revival. For more information, call 252-448-1330.   • Elder James Earl Harvey will be the guest preacher to render a service at Mt. Calvary Church in Warsaw at 7 p.m. Friday. The Mighty Warriors will provide the music.
  • St. Peter AMEZ Church in Warsaw will host Family and Friends day at 11 a.m. Sunday with Elder James Earl Harvey delivering the message ad the Mighty Warriors Musical Ministry providing the music.
  • St. Paul Church of Christ, 4009 Lake Wilson Road, Wilson, will present Women Conference 2020 at 7:30 p.m. on March 13-15 with Pastor Wanda Williams of Hull Road FWB Church in Kinston on Friday, March 13; Elder Tachala Hood at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 14; and Elder Andrea Taylor at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 15. The pastor, Bishop Chester L. Aycock, and lady Tina Aycock invite you to come and fellowship.
  • St. James Church of Christ, 514 S. Breazeale Ave., will present a Rainbow Tea on Saturday, March 14 at 5 p.m. with an old fashioned dinner for a $15 donation. Contact any member of St. James Church to pick a color and support.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ will host a worship service on Sunday, March 15 at 11 a.m. with the pastor, Elder Kenneth Freeman, set to deliver the word and the gospel choir the music. At 3 p.m., The Shepherd Care will present a “Fill the Pew” program at the church with guest preacher, Bishop Robert Dedrick Hood, and the St. Mark Church of Christ choir, usher and congregation of Faro rendering the service.
  • Andrew Chapel MB Church, 2541 Reedsford Road, Clinton will present Women Conference 2020 at 7:30 each night March 17-19. Guest preacher Elder Angela Whitehead of Running Branch Church of Christ Clinton will lead the service Tuesday night. Elder Stacee Carr of Mount Pleasant MB Church of Clinton will lead the program Wednesday night. Pastor Sharon Lane of Roseboro Community Church will lead the service Thursday night.
  • New Life Worship Center will present a two-night fellowship service on March 19-20 at 7:30 nightly with guest preacher Elder Christopher Williams of Living Waters Church Ministry of Roseboro.
  • Joyous Praise in Warsaw is hosting a Joy Night at 7:30 Saturday, March 21 with guest preacher, Evangelist Ernestine Grimes. The pastor, Elderess Patricia Peterson, invites you to come and fellowship.
  • Moses Chapel Church of Christ in Faison invites you to a Pack the Pew service at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21 with special guest preacher Elder Diane Newkirk of Greater Six Run MB Church of Turkey.
  • Holy Temple UH Church, 405 Parker St., Calypso, invites you to help show love and appreciation to its pastor, Elder Scottie Rodgers, and his wife, Tonya Rodgers, at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 22 with special guest Pastor Michael Reid and the Pearsall Chapel Church Choir, usher and congregation of Kenansville. Dinner will be served. Guest preacher, Elder Derrick Oats, will climax the celebration at 3 p.m. with the Johnson Chapel Church Choir, usher and congregation of Dudley.
  • Burning Bush UH Church of Faison will celebrate its choir anniversary on Sunday, March 22 at 4 p.m. with several choirs on the program. The pastor, Elder Beulah Pickett, invites you to come and help celebrate.
  • Shacklefree Church Outreach Ministries, 806 S. George St., Goldsboro invites you to its 15th annual Pastoral and Church Anniversary Banquet to be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22. Tickets are being sold for $20 apiece and can be purchased at Bread of Heaven Restaurant. The pastor Elder Ray Williams and his wife, Sandra Williams, invite you to join them.
  • Goshen Disciple Church in Faison will celebrate its pastor’s anniversary on Sunday, March 22 at 11 a.m. with Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church choir, usher and congregation rendering the service. Dinner will be served. Goshen’s pastor is Elder Donald DeWitt. Dinner will be served.
  • Judah Place Church Ministry in Goldsboro, where the pastor is Elderess Mary Brown, invites you to revival on March 23 through March 27 at 7:30 nightly with Elder James Grimes delivering the word Tuesday.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ will host Spring Revival at 7:30 nightly April 1-3 with Apostle Curtis Lee and the Evangelical Christian Fellowship Church Choir, usher and congregation on Wednesday; Elder Thomas Raynor and the Running Branch Church of Christ Choir, usher and congregation of Clinton on Thursday; and Elder Leslie Morrisey and the Greater Six Run MB Church Choir, usher and congregation of Turkey on Friday. The pastor, Elder Kenneth Freeman, and assistant pastor, Elderess Velma McKinley, invite you to come and fellowship.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ will celebrate a youth reunion at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 5. All adults, who were members of the youth choir or usher at St. Luke Church, are asked to call me at 919-658-1503. Youth Month is celebrated in April and the Reunion Youth Choir will render the music on April 5 and Evangelist Temika Michelle Newkirk Powell will give the message. The St. Luke Youth Choir and Elder Kenneth Freeman will render the service at 11 a.m. on April 19. More information will follow.
  • St. John OFWB Church, 446 Jim Grady Road, will celebrate Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 12 with the pastor, Elder Stevens delivering the message. An old fashioned lunch will be served after the service. For more information, call Sally Whitley at 910-379-5161.
  • New Jackson Tabernacle FB Church, 431 East Franklin Street, will present Spring Revival at 7:30 nightly April 15-17 with guest revivalist, Preacher Elder Clifton Hall, the ruling elder of the Philadelphia Pennsylvania District. Music will be rendered by different choirs each night. The pastor, Elder Betty Faison, invites each of you to come and fellowship in this great revival.
  • Holly Hill Church of Christ, 644 Beston Road, La Grange, invites you to worship every first, second and third Sunday at 11 a.m. and every fourth Sunday at 8 a.m. with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. The pastor, Elder Keith Roderick Robinson, invites you to come and fellowship.

    Hearts and prayers

    Our prayers and sympathy are with the family of Nancy Reid, who recently lost her sister in Philadelphia. Please keep Reid, who is the professor of Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly School of Religion in Goldsboro, in your prayers.

    Our hearts, prayers and sympathy are with the family of Wayne County Commissioner John M. Bell, who had served the residents of Wayne County District 3 since December 2001. A homegoing celebration was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Goldsboro Raleigh Assembly, 211 Hooks River Road in Goldsboro with Apostle Stephanie Hart officiating. Viewing was held on Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Maxwell Center, 3114 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro. He is survived by his precious wife, Annie Lou King Bell of the home, and his daughter, Renita Bell Cole.

    Happy anniversary to Eugene and Stella Wolfe who celebrated March 10.

    Congratulations to Joy Pate who was chosen as Teacher of the Week at North Duplin Elementary School and appeared on WITN Channel 7 News on Wednesday morning. Pate is a graduate of North Duplin High School and is now a teacher at North Duplin. Congratulations and thank you for your hard work and your dedication.

    Congratulations and happy retirement to Gloria Lynette Ezzell who has retired from the Duplin County Board of Education. Enjoy your retirement and your life of traveling.

    Happy 92nd birthday to Elderess Velma McKinley on March 6.     Happy 23rd anniversary to Greg and Katholeen Galloway, who celebrated Jan. 31, from your St. Luke Church family and Elder Kenneth Freeman and Mother Vesta Freeman. We love you very much and appreciate you giving 100% to the church. You are so much appreciated and loved. Personally, I thank you for assisting me and driving me. Real friends are not easy friends but I must say I have some real friends.

    Thank you Dianne West, Katholeen, Vondra McClain, Carolyn Allen, Karen George, my nurse Mary Ward, Carolyn Ward, Dorothy Inez Ward, Gwen Walls Oates, Grace Cooper, my brothers Ronald and Dennis Ward and to others who have been a part of the village. I just can’t name them all, but these regular people are always there.

    I would also like to extend a special thank you to all who attended Family and Friends Day at St. Luke Church. I extend another special thank you to my cousins, Kenneth and Jerily Lee, who were without their tractor. I love you, Kenneth. Please come again. It was a pleasure to see you.
