Revivals, back-to-school supply giveaways coming up

Greetings from the Wesley Smith Chapel community!

A homegoing celebration for Samuel Matthews West Sr. was held on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. at New Coner Funeral Home in Albany, New York, with many family and friends attending. Sister Judy Dianne Bynum West would like to thank the many people for their support, prayers, phone calls, and cards with a special thank you to Elder Kenneth and Mother Vesta Freeman and the St. Luke Mission Department for the beautiful special cards, prayers and love.

Several events are coming up at nearby churches:

  • St. Luke Church of Christ, 430 E. Elm St., Goldsboro, will present a Table of Colors at 5 p.m. Saturday in the church fellowship hall. A donation of $10 will be accepted. Mother Thea Michelle Williams invite you to come. For more information, call 919-273-1970.
  • The Men of FIC will sponsor their Back-to-School Bookbag Giveaway from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Nelson Street Park for children in grades kindergarten through eighth. They will have 550 bookbags to hand out and they invited all children, no matter where you live, to come and get school supplies. For more information, contact trustee Al Southerland at 919-394-0198. The Mount Olive Rotary Club will sponsor a bone marrow drive at the giveaway. Come and help save a life. You have to be 18 through 44 in order to participate. Call Southerland for more details and information on what to do before the drive. Refreshments will be served at the park. Thank you, Men of FIC, for the great job you are doing.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, invites you to a worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday with Elder Kenneth Freeman delivering the message and New Beginning Gospel Choir offering the music. Come and fellowship.
  • Northeast Chapel Church, 320 E. James St., is set to celebrate its mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday with special guest Elder Fletcher Raynor and music by the Jackson Family of Goldsboro. Mother Rachel Ammons and the Pastor Elder Jesse Warren III, along with the Northeast Church family, invite you to come.
  • An appreciation celebration honoring Sister Teresa Baker will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, featuring Design For Purpose, Soloist Terry and others. We invite all churches to come and show love to Teresa Baker.
  • Fore Christ Church Ministry, 770 N. Church St., will present “The International Service” at 6 p.m. Sunday. The Pastor Justin Heath invites you and he will deliver the message.
  • St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 3414 Summerlins Crossroad Road, will host a revival service at 7:30 nightly Aug. 21-23 at 7:30 with revivalist guest preacher Elder Donald Graham of Sampson Chapel Church of Christ in Clinton on Wednesday, Rev. Braxton Frederick and Hines Chapel FWB Church in Warsaw on Thursday and Rev. Michael McDougald and Mount Gilead M. B. Church on Friday. The Rev. James Davis invites each of you to come and be revived.
  • RRCM Youth Ministry, 3741 Junction Blvd., Raleigh, will present “The Generation of Separation” at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, with guest speaker Reginald Ezekial Ward. The Pastor Carla and Elder Gary Williams invites you to attend.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ’s Summer Gala Banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, with the colors yellow and green. Casual attire recommended. Donations of $10 will be accepted.
  • St. Luke MB Church, 3414 Summerlins Crossroad Road, will celebrate homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, with the Rev. James Davis delivering the message. Music will be by the choir.
  • Holy Temple United Holiness Church, 405 Parker St., Calypso, will present its Women Day Celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, with guest preacher Elder Patsy Faison. Back-to-school supplies will be given away after the morning service. The pastor Elder Scottie Rogers and Holy Temple Church family invite you to come and be a part of the service and get a blessing.
  • Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church Choir, ushers and congregation will render a worship service at St. Stephen Church of Christ in Princeton at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, where the pastor is Bishop Ronnie Hood.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ’s Fall Revival will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 28-30 with Evangelist Vondra McClain and the First Baptist Church Choir and ushers of Calypso on Wednesday. Dr. Hattie Lofton of Hickory Grove Church in Four Oaks and the St. James Church choir and ushers of Mount Olive will lead the service Thursday. Bishop Alton Smith and the St. Mark Church of Christ choir, ushers and congregation will render the service Friday. The Pastor Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church family invite you to join us.

    Congratulations to Samyia Bess, a Southern Wayne graduate who signed to play basketball with St. Augustine College in Raleigh. Samyia is the daughter of Ricky and Cindy Bess and the granddaughter of Letha Graham and the late Eddie Lee Graham. Congratulations Samyia from your Pastor Elder Kenneth and Mother Vesta Freeman and the St. Luke church family along with the Ward Girls Rock Team and the Ezekial and Annie Ward Family Reunion 2019. We love you. Go for the sky!
