Spring Creek’s men’s tennis team squared off against East Central 2A foe Goldsboro April 1 and knocked off the Cougars winning 5-4.
For the singles category, Spring Creek took four out of the six matchups. Noah Goroski picked up a win in three sets against Goldsboro’s Aaron Podbrelski on court one, and Elias Soto won in two sets against Connor Pate, then Joseph Lebron beat Daniel Williams in three sets winning 6-0 in the first set and 10-8 in the third.
Aubrey Pollock faced off against Colin Williams and lost the first two sets, 2-6 in both. Joseph O’Hara was able to pick up the fourth singles win for Spring Creek beating Nathan Podbrelski 6-4 in the first set and 15-13 in the third set.
In the matchup on court six, Spring Creek’s Matthew Morton lost 3-6 in the first two sets to Derek Hill. Goldsboro made an effort at a comeback team victory by winning two matches in the doubles category, but Noah Goroski and Elias Soto teamed up to pick up the fifth and final win on court one 8-6 that helped the Gators edge, Goldsboro.
Spring Creek traveled to Clinton on Monday for a conference matchup with the Dark Horses. The team’s remaining schedule is determined on weather rescheduled games. Conference championships start on April 16th.
