Seven officers in the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department were promoted by Sheriff Larry Pierce in recent ceremonies at the Wayne County Courthouse.
Pierce also paid recognition to two other officers for their recent noted achievements.
He praised all for their “hard work, dedication, and work ethics.”
Promoted were: Detention officers Donald Rhue, Aaron Harrell, Cynthia Harper, and Jonathan Dunn, all to the rank of corporal.
Lt. Tammy Mozingo was promoted to captain.
Others promoted were 1st Sgt. Brandy Jones, a school resources officer, who was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
Detective Hope Shaeffer was promoted to the rank of detective sergeant.
Also recognized was Sgt. Matt Fishman of the patrol division for achievement of his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate.
Cpl. Jonathan Batchelor of the department’s DWI Task Force was recognized on the state level for Outstanding Performance as a Drug Recognition Expert and as one of five in the state to achieve Platinum Performance as a Drug Recognition Expert and as a Top Performing Drug Recognition Expert from a sheriff’s office.
