North Carolina Pickle Festival again named among top 20 in Southeastern U.S.

The North Carolina Pickle Festival has again been named among the top 20 festivals in the Southeastern United States.

Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce President Julie Beck, the co-chair of the award-winning festival, said it is the second straight year the local festival has been named with the distinction.

The award is presented by the Southeast Tourism Society, an Atlanta-based society that covers a dozen southeast states.

Only two festivals in North Carolina were recognized. The other was the North Carolina Azalea Festival in Wilmington.

Ms. Beck said it is an award that “adds another feather in our cap.”

“It is really some great recognition to know that out of the entire southeastern portion of the country we have been named as a great event to attend,” Ms. Beck added.

She said just because you apply and nominate yourself does not mean you will be selected.

She also called it a “pat on the back to our volunteers who work so hard year after year.”

It also confirms that we put on a good, quality family event, she said.

Ms. Beck said the festival over the years has earned and received name recognition as a top notch event and this latest award sets it further in cement.

“We love it. We absolutely love it,” she said with both laughter and pride.
