The N.C. High School Athletic Association released plans for the state playoffs for the 2020-21 sports season and new guidelines for skill development sessions Tuesday.
Most sports, including football, have been reduced by 50 percent for postseason play. Each classification will have 32 qualifiers - 16 in the east and 16 in the west.
The association eliminated the dual-team portion of the wrestling and tennis playoffs, but will conduct an individual state championship in each sport.
Pre-determined brackets will be used for all playoffs.
The association increased season limitations to 14 meets in swimming, cross country and track and field.
