Mount Olive credited with state’s best-tasting water

The taste of Mount Olive’s water has once again earned the town statewide honors.

The Best Tasting Water in North Carolina Award was presented to Mount Olive last week at the annual three-day convention of the North Carolina Rural Water Association held in Greensboro. It was presented to local plant supervisor Deems Blanton.

This year’s accolade marks the second time in four years the award has been presented to Mount Olive.

The award came after samples of water from systems across the state were tested by Rural Water Association officials.

“This is quite an honor and a tribute to the hard work our guys do,” said Town Manager Charles Brown. “I don’t know if people realize the amount of hours and effort (that) go into making sure that the water they produce is the best it can be.”

“They certainly need to be congratulated,” he added.
