MOPD Chief Tommy Brown to retire Sept. 1

The shakeup at Mount Olive continues with the second retirement notice of a top administrator in as many months.
 
Mount Olive Police Chief Tommy Brown has announced he will retire, effective Sept. 1. His decision ends a 30-year career in law enforcement, but Brown said he will stay on "for a while" as a firearms training instructor.
 
And, interim Town Manager Jammie Royall confirmed he will apply for the permanent manager job.
 
Longtime manager Charles Brown retired in July.
