Mount Olive Men's volleyball team was locked in a tight battle with the Saints of Limestone last night that went a full five sets, but Mount Olive prevailed picking up their eighth victory of the season winning three sets to two.

The first set was played tightly between both squads. Limestone got out to a 13-11 lead and Mount Olive would go a 9-8 run to reduce the Limestone lead to one at 21-20. The Trojans would go on to only score one more point in the set losing a close one 25-21.

The second set was just as back and forth as the first and the lead switched a total of four times before either team got to the thirteenth point mark. Mount Olive had enough and would go on a 9-1 rally giving them a commanding 22-14 lead, but Limestone then went on a rally of their own, however, the Trojans had done enough to secure the second set win at 25-21.

With the match tied at one set apiece, the third set was crucial in terms of who would take momentum going into the rest of the match. Mount Olive got out to a 15-10 lead causing Limestone to regroup in the huddle with a timeout. Three kills and two errors by Limestone out of the timeout helped the Trojans build a 20-15 lead. The Saints would come back to reduce the lead to three, but Mount Olive finished out the set on a 5-3 rally to win the second set 25-20.

Needing only one more set to take the victory, Mount Olive built a 9-7 lead early in the fourth set, but a 7-5 run by Limestone tied the set up at 14 apiece. Limestone took control of the game leading 22-20 at one point, but Mount Olive battled back and took a 24-23 lead on the verge of ending the match. Limestone scored the final three points of the set winning the fourth set 26-24 and pushing the match to a deciding fifth set.

Mount Olive got out to a 12-10 lead to start the final set, but Limestone fought back to tie the match up at 12. The Saints went on a 4-3 rally to take the lead at 16-15 and having to win by two, Mount Olive was on the ropes. Coming out of a timeout, the Trojans scored three points compared to Limestone's one to take the lead 18-17. The Saints would bounce back one more time to tie the set up at 19 all, but a kill from Tobi Azeez and an ace from Brad Monaghan ended the set at 21-19 and the match at 3-2 for Mount Olive giving them their eighth win of the season.
