UMO students take reflective field trip .Seven University of Mount Olive students, along with Professor Tyanna Yonkers, recently took a field trip as part of their IDS 204 course, Contemplative Practices Through the Arts. The group visited SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Cary and the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. .The course is taught by Yonkers, professor of religion, and Cheryl Hooks, professor of fine arts. .Students explored icons in the church and reflected on artwork in the museum to incorporate the contemplative practices they have learned throughout the course.
