Hubert James ‘Rabbit’ Coley Jr.

RALEIGH ­— Hubert James Coley Jr., 72, of Raleigh passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Gabriel Manor, Assisted Living Center in Clayton, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

A memorial service at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive will take place Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. Following the Mount Olive service, a celebration of Rabbit’s life will be held at his son’s home, 5300 Grasshopper Road, Raleigh, at 3 p.m.

Mr. Coley attended N.C. State and worked in both insurance sales and car sales and was owner of R&T Transmissions, Raleigh. He was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church and his beloved church at Carolina Beach. He recommitted his life to God in a beautiful ocean baptism service at Wrightsville Beach several years ago.

Mr. Coley was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert James Coley Sr. and Leona Grady Coley and by his brother, Jackie Glenn Coley. He is survived by his sons, Joe Coley and Travis Coley; his sister, Dean Coley; and one nephew, Brad Farrar.

Mr. Coley’s family would like to say thank you to special family friends and loved ones, Phyllis Miller and Shane Searles. Many thanks also to the staff at Gabriel Manor and to Community Home Health & Hospice for their gentle and loving care of him through his illness.
